Today was my daughters first day of Kindergarten! She was very excited!
We got up early, got ready, and all was fine. It was on the ride to school that I had noticed she had become a little quieter than usual. I think as we got close to the school the realization set in and she became nervous! She stayed by my and her daddy’s side as we got her supplies put away, and found her cubby. She then signed in, and it was time for us to go. As soon as she gave her daddy a hug, her eyes filled with tears! My poor baby! I thought she’d have no problem as she’s been in preschool for two years, but I guess this is different. It’s a new class, new teacher, new friends. We had to leave to go to a parent meeting, gave her one last hug, and off we went. Through experience I’ve learned it’s a lot better to leave than hang around when the tears start coming. It’s sometimes hard for parents to leave their crying child, but the truth is, they’ll be fine!
Sure enough, at the end of the day when we went to pick her up, she was happy! She seemed to really enjoy her first day, and has met some new friends. I still can’t believe she’s growing up so fast!

I am so glad to hear her day turned around. The first day can be either great or terrible then it sets the tone for the rest of the school year. Glad it sounds like a good school year is underway.
