It was a beautiful sunny Sunday, and we had no plans. So, we decided to make a big slip n’ slide down our hill. The kids had a blast! We used a big tarp and Dawn dishwashing liquid to get it slippery. We do own one of those store bought slip n’ slides, and it works well enough, but it’s so narrow that the kids usually slide off the sides. That wasn’t gonna happen with this one! It was the perfect way to spend a little FUN in the SUN!

Ahh slip n slides..
Those were the days :):)
Aw, cute! I L-O-V-E-D slipnslides when I was a kid — this looks just as good if not better! 🙂
Aw! I remember slipnslides! Both of my little ones are under two, but I see lot’s of slipping and sliding in the future! :p

Love that idea!
A cute idea! I’ve never had a slip and slide before 🙁
OMG! This is sooo much fun! We did the same thing 2 yrs ago during the summer and the kids had a Blast!! I’m glad you posted this.. I had forgotten all about it.. You gave me the idea to do it again.. lol.. Thanks!!
What a brilliant idea! and frugal too!! It looks like you had a wonderful time 🙂
I remember feeling so sore after a slip and slide day! I’m afraid to think of how sore I would be now!
i know! I didn’t go for a slide this time!
What a cool idea!!!
That sounds so much fun! My boys would love it!
Thats a nice hill to slide down ! Love the look on your daughter’s face… My 3yo looked at it and said “They are having a picnic”
Great idea! My kids are using their slip-n-slide from the store, but I think the homemade ones that I used as a kid are so much better!
What a neat way to make your own slip ‘n slide! Thanks for sharing!
what a great idea. we might just do this today (there is a heat wave in NJ, and most places)
How fun and what an inexpensive way to make one yourself!
What a fun idea. Inexpensive and easy! Love it!!
Sounds like a blast! We do the same thing with the Dawn..it works wonders!
This sounds like such a fun idea! I will have to try it 🙂
That looks like fun… I want to try it for myself =)
What a great idea! That brings back memories of a time in my childhood when we had to MAKE our fun. Good good memories. Thanks for all the great ideas on your blog and moving savings.
This is such a great ideal. With these crazy heat waves going on my kids will love this and its in the budget.
those were the days. but i remember getting friction burn from the fiberglass in the tarps
Why didn’t I think of this. I never liked the original because its so narrow. This is a great idea!!
I agree, they are too narrow. We actually have one and the kids slide off the sides! And of course adults can’t go on it! The tarp is so much more durable 🙂
that is such a cute idea and very cheap!!!! too bad we don’t have any hills nearby 🙁
Looks like fun!
Cute idea!
This is so neat! We bought a huge slip n slid from Walmart but my three year old cannot get the hang of it. we had to add a ton of dish soap to make her slide around!
This is a great idea—I like how it’s so wide, which is also good for multiple sliders. 🙂
We made a slip n slide out of plastic sheeting at my sons birthday party! It was a blast, even for us adults! We used dish liquid too, and baby soap and when that ran out we used vegetable oil!
Looks fun!
What a neat idea, I’ll have to use this with my 2 year old grandson, and have course Nanoo, Mommy & Daddy will join in! Thanks for the idea!
Slip ‘n slides are so much fun. I never thought about making my own- a great idea
Great idea and best of all, it’s free! Free is always GOOD 🙂
I had a slip and slide as a kid, but do not have one for my own kids. this is such a cool idea for end of summer!
Looks awesome and would be great with these hot days
We did this growing up since we couldn’t afford to get the real thing. I know all of us kids loved it!
Those definitely were the days. I remember doing this with black trash bags when we were kids. LOL! 🙂
love this idea. great activity if you can’t go to the pool
i wish i would of thought of that. neat idea!
that looks fun!!
I wanted to make one this summer, but we never did. Next year we are going to make one!
awwww how fun 🙂 getting soak and wet under the sun
Great idea! Better than spending the money on them. Can adults use too? LOL
I would’ve used Baby Oil and created a heck of a disaster! Thanks for the soap idea, much easier to clean up!
they look like they’re best frieds forever
This is something we were going to try this past summer . My son has a nice long hill in his yard and this would be great for the kids to slide on. thanks for the info
Oh I remember doing that! And I have no idea why, but Dawn really is the best soap for a slip and slide.
We’ve always made our own slip n slides, and the really neat thing is how clean the kids are after a day of play in soapy water.
Slip n slide is always a lot of fun, I say a homemade one is even better then the store bought one. My kids would love this.
