It was a beautiful sunny Sunday, and we had no plans. So, we decided to make a big slip n’ slide down our hill. The kids had a blast! We used a big tarp and Dawn dishwashing liquid to get it slippery. We do own one of those store bought slip n’ slides, and it works well enough, but it’s so narrow that the kids usually slide off the sides. That wasn’t gonna happen with this one! It was the perfect way to spend a little FUN in the SUN!

Cathie Shane says
Why didn’t I think of this. I never liked the original because its so narrow. This is a great idea!!
malia says
I agree, they are too narrow. We actually have one and the kids slide off the sides! And of course adults can’t go on it! The tarp is so much more durable 🙂

This is so neat! We bought a huge slip n slid from Walmart but my three year old cannot get the hang of it. we had to add a ton of dish soap to make her slide around!
Kristin says
This is a great idea—I like how it’s so wide, which is also good for multiple sliders. 🙂

We made a slip n slide out of plastic sheeting at my sons birthday party! It was a blast, even for us adults! We used dish liquid too, and baby soap and when that ran out we used vegetable oil!

This is something we were going to try this past summer . My son has a nice long hill in his yard and this would be great for the kids to slide on. thanks for the info
Mary says
Oh I remember doing that! And I have no idea why, but Dawn really is the best soap for a slip and slide.
Paula Ball says
We’ve always made our own slip n slides, and the really neat thing is how clean the kids are after a day of play in soapy water.
Nicole Dz says
Slip n slide is always a lot of fun, I say a homemade one is even better then the store bought one. My kids would love this.
