Planning a baby shower? This post is for you! A baby shower is a wonderful and thoughtful way to celebrate a new bundle of joy. It doesn’t have to be a stressful or difficult process. A little planning goes a long way.
BUDGET – First things first. You’ll need to decide how much money you’ll be putting in to the shower. Maybe other friends or family members can chip in to make it affordable for everyone. Once you come up with a budget, you can start the planning process.
THEME – Decide on the theme. There are so many cute themes to choose from. If you know the sex of the baby to be, you can incorporate that into the theme. One of my favorite themes is “Oh, Baby”. This can be created using a Custom Neon Sign of a baby, some beads, frills, and ribbons around the guest seating area to create a little boho vibe, and using table clothes in the color of dusty pink or sage green along with a few natural colors. I love the color scheme and love the vibe! Of course, everyone’s different, so their choice would be different. You, as a parent-to-be, would know best–you’ll know what your style is. Whether it is boho, beachy, rustic, or fancy, go with a theme you think you’ll love.
INVITES – Once you’ve set your budget and chosen a theme it’ll be time to write up a guest list. When that’s done, you can send out a baby shower invite to all on your list. There’s a bunch of super cute online baby shower invitations at sites such as Basic Invite. Here are a couple of my favorites:
MENU – What will you be serving guests? Does Mommy-to-be have any allergies, or is she on a special diet? If so, be sure to take those into consideration. I know a couple mommies who had gestational diabetes while pregnant. You’ll definitely want a few yummy options for those in that or similar situations. One of my favorite additions to any party is a charcuterie board filled with a variety of cheeses, crackers and bread, jam or jelly, fruit, veggies and dips. Not only is it tasty, it’ll also add a great touch to your overall decor. Another way to make your decor pop is with a dessert table! Having the sweet tooth that I do, desserts are always my favorite part of any party.
ACTIVITIES – What will guests be doing during the shower? Games are not required, but always a fun addition to any gathering. There are so many fun baby shower games that’ll get everyone involved including mommy or parents-to-be. Some of my favorites are “Minute to Win It” games. They’re sure to bring loads of fun and laughter. You can think of other outdoor games kids can play on a lawn. They will have lot of space to run around safely and you can have more intimate time with your family and friends.
But, to make it more kids friendly, prepare the lawn beforehand for the party. Take out weeds by pulling them out or you can use sprays or weed killer. Take some time out for this and do it patiently, as weed killers will take two weeks to do the job. Mow your lawn for three-five days, and while at it take out any rocks. Level any uneven patches and remove any leaves. Avoid watering your lawn for a few days as it can destroy your lawn. You won’t be able to place any furniture as they will sink. Keep a few of these things in mind and you will have a great time. You can learn more about lawn maintenance on websites like Lawn and Petal.
As lawn parties have so much to prepare, you will need to plan it ahead and prepare the perfect theme for the party. If you want more ideas on food, drinks, and décor you will find plenty of inspiration on social media. You could use some of those quirky ideas and make a perfect lawn party.
HAVE FUN WITH IT – Once you get the planning out of the way , it’ll be time to gather everything you need. Enlist a few people to help with food, decor and setup and you’ll be good to go. Most important is knowing you’re celebrating someone special coming into this world.
