Howard B. Wigglebottom Books are great for school aged children as they all have a lesson to be learned within the story. This particular book teaches concepts such as respect for others good sportsmanship and teamwork. It talks about how winning isn’t the most important thing. What matters is that you play fair and have fun doing it! In this story Howard always has to win, no matter what! By the end of the story he comes to realize that winning isn’t everything. My 5 year old daughter could relate to the story as she at times can have a hard time losing and sometimes gets upset at herself and with those who won. I think it may be the same for a lot of children in this age group and this is a great resource to talk to kids about winning and losing.
