#FightToxins With Seventh Generation – Support Chemical Reform

Disclosure: I participated in a campaign on behalf of Millennial Central for Seventh Generation. I received a promotional item and product samples as a thank you for participating”

I’m happy to announce that I’ve  teamed up with Seventh Generation to help spread awareness about the importance of chemical reform in the United States.

It is sad and scary to know that more than 80,000 chemicals available in the United States today have not been fully tested for their toxic effects on our health and our environment.  These chemicals can be found in everything from children’s toys to cleaning and personal care items, food and beverage containers, and more.  I am certain you’ll be able to find numerous items in your home that contain these harmful chemicals.

I am educating myself to become more aware of the chemicals included in the products I use.  Until recently, I didn’t realize that a large number of products that I thought were safe to use, really aren’t!   It has become my goal to purchase as many eco-friendly, natural products as possible, products like those available from Seventh Generation.

Wouldn’t it be wonderful if all products were free of harmful chemicals?  I certainly want what’s best for my family, and staying away from these toxins is what’s best.  Unfortunately, It’s hard to avoid these chemicals because they are everywhere.

A chemical reform would help to insure that new and existing chemicals be assessed for safety.  Safety standards for chemicals would be set to protect us all, and the Environmental Protection Agency would be authorized to protect the citizens from harmful chemicals.

Scientists have linked exposure to toxic chemicals to many health risks including Cancer, Alzheimer’s, learning disabilities, asthma, birth defects, and a variety of reproductive problems.  I myself, have lost a number of family members to Cancer.  I often wondered what exactly caused their disease.  I know of so many people who have dealt with Cancer, and I wonder if some cases could have been prevented if they had been protected from toxic chemical exposure.

Would you like to help #FightToxins?  Become a Toxin Freedom Fighter by signing Seventh Generations petition to urge Congress to reevaluate the Toxic Substances Control Act for the first time since 1976. Seventh Generations goal is to collect 100,000 Signatures by April 24th.  I know they can reach their goal!  Show your support by signing the petition today, and sharing it with your friends and family.

I have to admit i’ve not been real conscious of what chemicals are in my home. This is a great reminder to check and see what is actually being used.

Although I know that so much of what we use, eat and drink is contaminated with all these strange chemicals that just have to effect our body, I have to admit that sometimes I get trapped in the “business of life” and let this slide. But I feel I need to educate myself better. So, thanks for the reminder! Good for you getting involved!

It is really scary how many toxins we are around everyday. Each of us can do a little to help change things.

This is a topic which I am passionate about and I’m happy others are jumping on board too! It’s crazy that federal regulations haven’t been updated since the 1970’s. So many (millions) of chemicals have been given fast track approval for manufacturing and it’s put us all at risk. Thanks for sharing this!

I must admit before having my 15 moth old I had ignore the fact. However even though I still need to be more conscious I’ve been paying more attention.

I use Seventh Generation Dishwasher tabs. I’m on the non-toxic train too. It’s helped me lose that extra bit of weight and I have less acne. I also take supplements that help me detox on a daily basis. Great post.

Great topic. I have to admit that I can do better with paying attention to chemicals in my home. It is so scary that that many chemicals have not been tested for impact on our help. That is insane! Thanks for raising this awareness

Having a baby is really an eye opener. If It wasn’t for my little one, I probably wouldn’t pay as much attention as I do now.

I’m terrified by all the chemicals that seem to be in everything. I am going to sign. Thank you for letting me know about Seventh Generations.

This is a great post! I finally switched to Shaklee this year because I’m so sensitive to everything–and I realized it’s a GOOD thing to be sensitive to chemicals. I wish I made the switch earlier. It’s crazy what we have in our homes and don’t think anything of it. Thanks for sharing!
