25 DIY Halloween Costumes

With Halloween being less than 2 months away, I have been thinking of costume ideas for my girls. On this day, it’s a great idea to dress up as one of your favorite superheroes. It will certainly boost your status among your friends and make the day more fun.

Superhero jackets and their whole costumes will make you stand out at the party. Although superpowers are fictitious, we can make ourselves appear like superheroes by donning the appropriate outfit to make way for the best Halloween appearance.

Though there are an endless number of options in all the categories, for my girls, I like making costumes, myself. I’ve made a few costumes in the past, and I always like those better than the ones they sell in stores. Well, for myself, I can choose anything from the variety of gothic clothing line available across the stores.

If not, I can always consider taking up the task of measuring, cutting, and sewing my own ensemble. Since I am in the habit of making clothes from the scratch, I can pretty much get the work done in the blink of an eye. For instance, if I get the basic idea of how to make a mothman costume by learning about the fabrics of the bodysuit and the accessories needed, I would pretty much be able to create something wearable and appealing, without spending a lot of time on the project. But that is not the same for my kids’ outfits; I want to dedicate a little more time and effort to their costumes.

This is because in no time they will be grown up and choosing their own outfits. But now, when they are little, I want them to look their cutest. And the outfits I create for them are certainly cuter and more unique, at least that’s what I think! If you also prefer making outfits on your own, these ideas will certainly be of help to you. I’ve been doing some browsing and have compiled a list of 25 DIY Halloween Costume Ideas. Most seem pretty simple.

Here are some of the costumes I’ve made.

1. Tinkerbell

2. Angel

3. Witch

4. Bumble Bee

5. Mermaid (i did NOT make this, It was custom made for my daughter)

6. Kitty

what cute ideas! When my youngest was in the snuggly still, I dressed him in all black, wrappped the snuggly in a yellow towel and then put tape around teh yellow towel.. He was an adorable bumblebee and I was able to carry him while I held the other toddlers hands. What fun memory!

I wish I had seen your article 4 days ago. I found some costumes on Childrens Place and left it open and my daughter saw it. I caved since the oldest had gotten a fancy costume at that age (but I made it). Now I wish I had stuck to my guns about making something.

I absolutely LOVE the Mermaid costume!! I’ve been looking at a lot of costumes on Etsy this year for our 3 year old daughter and I’ve been debating between a pirate and a Mermaid:) Last year I bought her costume at a craft fair.. I would definitely rather go the homemade route but I am not crafty with a sewing machine so I look to other people to help me out! Your kids are adorable!
