It is common in this time of the century to see parents (old and young alike) travel with their toddlers together. They even go for camping trips with their loved young ones for camping trips. Travelling to your destination in a good car with your kid on board is awesome. The feeling is satisfying. However, certain considerations must be taken to ensure a safe and happy trip for both the parent and the kids. The trip with your kid is meant to be fun and these are some of the essential tips to be ensured:
Early planning- the early bird without doubt catches the worm. It is important that you plan adequately beforehand to avoid last minute rushes. Ensure that you have packed all the items you will need during the trip. Recheck you list a week before your trip to ensure that everything is intact and in place.
Strategic packing–only pack the items that you will require during the trip. Do not bring on board unnecessary load. Pack your items in common groupings for easy access whenever you need them. These measures will save you time when locating an item during the journey. It is also important to pack your clothes in accordance with the weather along your chosen route and final destination alike.
Safety-before you embark on your journey, ensure that the car is in good condition and that your kid’s seat is safely secured. Ensure adequate sleep on the night before the journey to minimize fatigue when on board. It is important to carry with you a well-equipped first aid kit should there be an emergency. Include in it infant pain relievers, antihistamines and mosquito repellant creams.
Snacks- bring along some snack on board for your kid. Your kid should not starve during the trip. He/she should be made comfortable and should enjoy every bit of the trip. A customized litter bin should be properly placed in the car for disposing off the snack wrappers to avoid getting the car messy.
Some good sort of entertainment- a trip is meant to be fun all the way to your destination. It’s important that you include some play toys for your toddler and play him/her some cool music to keep them going.
Sanity-you should never forget to carry wipes for your kids just in case they soil themselves. A big box of wipes is necessary should they throw up while on board. Also, you should never forget to carry a good amount of clean drinking water that can be used to clean up the mess or for drinking when they get dehydrated.
Familiar sleeping place for your child- babies are fond of sleeping on several occasions of the day. Safely pack there sleeping apartment at the back seat so they can get to sleep whenever they feel like. Car manufactures are now designing child friendly cars to meet family needs should they travel with their babies. Your trip should also be planned having considered the babies sleeping schedule. The journey shouldn’t turn out to be a sleeping trip for the baby. It is therefore important that you travel at the times when your baby realizes little or no sleep.
Stop stations- break your journey and relax your nerves. It is unthinkable that you will drive with your kid tucked in the car for eight hours straight. Plan to stop at frequent intervals to change your toddler’s nappies and to take a rest of- road. It is important that you plan for stopovers when the kid is awake and keep driving when they go to sleep.
Safe driving- knowing that your kid is at the back seat, it is important that you drive at safe speeds and refrain from taking any alcohol during the trip. Your child’s safety is supreme and should be ensured at all costs.
