Griffin Survivor iPad 2 Case Review – Durable & Great for Kids!

As soon as we purchased my daughter’s iPad I knew it was very important to get her a PROTECTIVE and durable case.  I wasn’t about to spend $500, and NOT have it protected.  After doing some research, I finally decided on the Griffin Survivor.  There weren’t a whole lot of reviews on the Griffin Survivor, but I found a great video on You Tube where she reviewed the best iPad cases for kids.  I also read the reviews on Amazon before making my decision.  The Griffin Survivor for the iPad 2 really is a nice and durable case.  It protects the iPad very well, and I don’t worry about my daughter carrying it around, because I know it  really is protected.  I love that the survivor includes a thin protective cover for the screen (not many cases offer this).  It does NOT stick to the iPad screen as it is a part of the case.  The screen is one of the things I worried about as it can crack if dropped.  The case includes a two piece plastic layer, followed by the rubber outer layer.  Yes, this case does add some bulk to the iPad, but it really doesn’t bother me at all.  The pink color was the perfect choice for my little girl.  It also comes in black.  There are a couple things that I DO NOT like about this case.  The first is the flaps that cover the different ports, camera, speaker, etc.  The flaps are “supposed” to fold back, and be held in place, but it really needs some improvement. I can’t get the flaps to actually stay in place, it can be annoying!  The plus side of the flaps, is that it keeps the iPad protected from dirt, dust, and water.  The stand that comes with this case isn’t the greatest.  It feels flimsy and is kind of hard to open up (my daughter can’t do it on her own) Luckily, we don’t really need it, so we haven’t made any use of it.  I tried using it once and it just fell over!  Other than that, I really like the Griffin Survivor case and am very happy with my purchase.  I would recommend this case for kids, as it offers excellent protection.  It’s also great for anyone who feels the need to protect their purchase.  I bought mine from griffin through Amazon.  The pink cases were SOLD OUT at most places leading up to Christmas, and was so hard to find!  I was lucky to see it on Amazon when I did because shortly after I purchased it, they were all gone!

Pros:  Durable, Great overall Protection, Waterproof, Dustproof, drop proof, kidproof, nice look, Built-In screen protection

Cons: The port covers don’t stay in place well when you try to keep them open, can be annoying!, The stand is a little flimsy

I’d give the Griffin Survivor  iPad 2 case 4 stars.  I really wish there was a way to keep those port covers open, especially for the speaker and camera.  If there were a solution to this problem I’d defintely give this product 5 stars!  It really is a great case.  I still recommend it because it does offer GREAT protection!

Here are a couple close-ups
View of the BACK of the case.  Notice all the ports are covered which makes this dust and waterproof!
Close-up of the port covers
Here’s the camera port cover opened.  You can see the little rubber tab.  You’re supposed to stick that into the black opening, and it is SUPPOSED to stay in place.  It does for a little bit, but you’re better off holding it open, or it WILL pop out!
Here’s the port  cover opened (it stayed open for the picture!)
The stand.  When not in use, the stand fits nicely on the case.
