So, being that it’s a new year, I’ve been thinking about what I want to accomplish before the year is up. One thing I really want and need to do is….
1. Get ORGANIZED! Home, Bills, Life!
-I’ve always wanted to be organized. I try and try…but I’m just NOT an organized person. I really want to make it a priority this year. I must say, I started off with a good start. My kids have a “play” room. And I fixed it up at the beginning of the month. I was afraid that there might be some mold or termite problems in the room, given how much clutter and spilling goes on in there. Getting rooms like these inspected by professionals similar to the ones at this mold inspection Ottawa service is always a good idea. Thankfully, the play room didn’t seem to have any of these problems so I could just get to cleaning. I cleared out the old toys, and put the shelves and bins I bought previously to use. When I was done, that room looked great. So good, in fact, that I didn’t want to let the kids back in! lol. Now, whenever they go in there, I try to make it a point to get everything picked up when they’re done.
Now that the playroom is done, I still have the rest of the house to do! You could say that I’ve been procrastinating a little. But, I feel like I never really have the time to do it! The next area to get organized is our closets! I’ve started with my daughter’s closet. They both share a “mini walk-in” closet. The problem with their closet is I haven’t cleared out the clothes that they’ve grown out of, so their drawers are overflowing! I started sorting through the clothes the other day while my daughter was napping……but then she got up, and that was the end of that!
I plan to sort out the clothes and keep a few of the nicer pieces, just in case I (or another friend/family member) have another baby girl in the future. Then I want to try to sell a bunch of the clothes in bulk on craigslist! “Buy the whole BOX full for $20”. If that doesn’t work, I may have another yard sale, and whatever doesn’t sell will get donated! Moreover, I also want to buy her a few new clothes such as kids bathers, pretty dresses, jumpers, etc., so clearing out her closet is necessary at this point. Otherwise, it’s just going to be a bigger mess later and I will feel more confused while sorting through things. So, let’s say – the quicker, the better!
Then it’s my closet. What a mess! We have a big walk-in closet, and it is full. Not only with clothes, it’s full of “stuff”. I really need to get it nice and organized. I just don’t know where to start!
Mail…Bills….PAPERS! I need to develop some kind of a system. A way to keep these things in order. A way to keep me from misplacing bills, so I remember what’s been paid off and what hasn’t been. Then it’s all my daughters artwork from preschool. I’ve been debating whether I should get her a box to save all her art and projects, or if I should take pictures of everything and put it all in a photo book! I saw that idea somewhere, and I thought that would be a great way to remember all the things she’s made, yet not let it take over our countertop!
So…those are the main areas that need to be organized. But those are not the only areas that need attention and organization. I think even my backyard needs some kind of organization. It just looks so disoriented that it almost gives me a vibe of a junkyard–too tall grass, no trimming, no pruning, just a table lying here, a chair lying there. I think I have to do something about this area. Perhaps, it needs a makeover first from a landscape design company near us, which will eventually make it look organized.
The same is true for my garage. Although the garage is often neglected, I would not like it to be that way, mainly because a poorly maintained garage would impede my decluttering work. It would make sense to toss out those old and unnecessary items that are lying around in the garage along with contacting a garage repair company like Kings Garage Doors for maintenance of the garage.
Anyway, this is it for today! If you have any more tips for me, do let me know. Also, I would love to hear about how you stay organized. It would be great to get some insights from you on how you stay organized while managing such a busy schedule. I’m sure it would be helpful to others in the same situation.

Staying organized is always a challenge for me too. Especially all the papers that accumulate in the office. Great goal for the new year!
