Whether a client chooses Juvederm or Radiesse depends on what they wish to have corrected when it comes to fine lines, wrinkles and flat, dry areas in their face or hands.
Both products are excellent dermal fillers, but they are different. Here is how:
Juvederm uses hyaluronic acid gel as a filler. Hyaluronic acid is a natural product that acts as a skin humectant, which means it holds water. It is found in the skin’s natural moisturizing factor, which helps to keep the skin elastic and juicy. Hyaluronic acid is a precursor of collagen, a protein that creates much of the body’s structure. The hyaluronic acid found in Juvederm is synthetic, so there’s little chance of the client becoming allergic to it.
There are now several types of Juvederm on the market. Juvederm Ultra Plus is best for adding volume to thin lips and for softening deep wrinkles, nasolabial folds, and marionette lines. If you are interested, a clinic that provides Cosmetic Injectables Gawler or somewhere closer to you could be able to provide you with more information regarding how and where such fillers should be used. Generally, however, aestheticians can inject Juvederm Ultra Plus deeply into the fat layers of a patient’s face and give them a new, youthful look.
Juvederm Volbella is made to give volume to lips and to reduce the appearance of the lines around the lips. Juvederm Volbella is sought because it doesn’t give the client weird looking “trout lips.” The one problem with hyaluronic acid is also its great benefit. It absorbs too much water and can cause excess swelling when it’s injected into the lips. Juvederm Volbella doesn’t use the same amount of hyaluronic acid as other fillers, so the lips get their alluring pout without looking bizarre. The treatment also lasts as long as a year, and feels smoother to the patient than other types of fillers. Juvederm XC is also used to plump out flat, thin lips. The XC signifies that the hyaluronic acid is cross linked, which makes the gel extra smooth. It also contains lidocaine, a painkiller.
Radiesse and Radiesse (+) work in a way that is quite different from Juvederm. It is made up of microspheres of calcium hydroxylapatite suspended in a gel. Though it does add volume when it is injected, Radiesse stimulates the body to make its own collagen, which rushes to the area where the microspheres are. The microspheres actually form a scaffolding to which the patient’s collagen can cling. As time passes, the body absorbs the gel and the calcium hydroxylapatite but leaves the body’s natural collagen behind. As with Juvederm, the results can last for more than a year.
Radiesse is also used to correct deep wrinkles and folds on the face, especially nasolabial folds. It adds volume to flat areas at the back of our client’s hands or hollow areas at the temples.
A client who wants a derma filler or a dermapen micro needling in Denver (or elsewhere), might first need to have a consultation with a doctor or aesthetician to see if they are a good candidate for the procedure. Most people are good candidates unless they have blood clotting problems or have been found to be allergic to the product in the past. Ideally, a pregnant woman should put off having the treatment until after her baby is born.
That said, those who are planning to prepare for dermal filler treatment should keep in mind the below-mentioned pieces of information:
Both Juvederm and Radiesse are injected with needles that are so fine that the client often doesn’t need a topical anesthetic. The aesthetician gives a series of injections around the area and may massages it in until the filler assumes the desired shape.
After the client leaves the office, they may experience a bit of swelling and bruising at the injection sites. This discomfort can be eased with the application of cold compresses.
Each session lasts about 15 minutes to a half an hour, and both are outpatient procedures. This means that, technically, the treatment can be done on the client’s lunch hour, and they can go straight back to work. However, we recommend a client take it easy for a day or two after the treatment.
If you live or work in the Naples, Florida area and wish to ease the look of deep lines and folds or need to plump out areas in your face or hands that you find unattractively flat and dry, arrange a consultation with one of the physicians at Aesthetic Surgery Center.
