Our Weekend at the Hilton Waikoloa Village

HILTON waikoloa village big island hawaii hotel

As I mentioned in my daughters 7th Birthday post, she had asked to go to the hotel for her birthday. The Hilton Waikoloa Village is her favorite hotel to stay at, and if you’re ever to visit, you’ll understand why! It has been over a year since our last visit, so we were all very excited to spend some time there.

We were lucky enough to get an early check-in which is awesome. The normal check-in time is 3:00 pm, then you have to check-out at 12:30 the next day. That definitely isn’t enough time to enjoy all the hotel has to offer! We got to the hotel at 10:30 am. We would have been earlier, but my husband insisted on going surfing first, and as usual, if the waves are good, he has a hard time getting out of the ocean!

We met my sister, nieces, mom, and brother-in-law at the hotel as they were getting a room too. Were were lucky enough to get rooms right next to each other, which was great, especially since the hotel was pretty full! Being that it’s winter, I’m sure it was full of tourists looking to get away from the snow.

The Hilton Waikoloa Village is a huge hotel, spread out among 62 oceanfront acres. There are three ways to get to your room, the air conditioned tram, the boat, or you can walk along the hallways and pathways that are filled with lots of Asian and Polynesian artwork. It’s a nice walk, and you feel like you’re walking through a museum! Our room was at the palace tower. The boat doesn’t start running until 2pm, and the kids were anxious to get to the pool, so rather than walk, we got on the tram.

After getting to the room, and changing into swimsuits, we were out the door! There are three pools on the property. We chose to go to the one closest to our room first. It’s the second-biggest pool on the property and features three water slides! After a few hours there, we walked along the path to the second pool, stopping to watch the dolphins along the way. My girls, especially my youngest, loved watching the dolphins and wants to swim with them! We got to the bigger pool and hung out there for the rest of the day. I think it is just the pools that grab my daughter’s attention the most, for which she keeps asking to come back here again and again. I am not sure if someday she turns up with the idea of Inground Pools in our own backyard. Well, that could be fun too, as we can swim whenever we want. Anyway, after the swim, we went back to our rooms to rest before heading out to dinner. The girls were exhausted and had fallen asleep. We got my seven year old up, but the little one slept through dinner!

We spent our second day at the pool. It was such an enjoyable and relaxing weekend for all of us. I only wish we could do it more often.

If you’re ever on the Big Island, I highly recommend the Hilton Waikoloa Village. There’s so much to do, you won’t want to leave!

Going to the Island is my very most wish. It was my mom’s dying wish, but she never made it, so I sure hope I do. It looks so beautiful there. I’ll take you up on that hotel, only I don’t want to not leave it. I know there is so much more to do on the Island. I’d hate if I had too much fun at the hotel and never left and missed everything else there is to do. Thanks for the great review.
