As I mentioned in my daughters 7th Birthday post, she had asked to go to the hotel for her birthday. The Hilton Waikoloa Village is her favorite hotel to stay at, and if you’re ever to visit, you’ll understand why! It has been over a year since our last visit, so we were all very excited to spend some time there.
We were lucky enough to get an early check-in which is awesome. The normal check-in time is 3:00 pm, then you have to check-out at 12:30 the next day. That definitely isn’t enough time to enjoy all the hotel has to offer! We got to the hotel at 10:30 am. We would have been earlier, but my husband insisted on going surfing first, and as usual, if the waves are good, he has a hard time getting out of the ocean!
We met my sister, nieces, mom, and brother-in-law at the hotel as they were getting a room too. Were were lucky enough to get rooms right next to each other, which was great, especially since the hotel was pretty full! Being that it’s winter, I’m sure it was full of tourists looking to get away from the snow.
The Hilton Waikoloa Village is a huge hotel, spread out among 62 oceanfront acres. There are three ways to get to your room, the air conditioned tram, the boat, or you can walk along the hallways and pathways that are filled with lots of Asian and Polynesian artwork. It’s a nice walk, and you feel like you’re walking through a museum! Our room was at the palace tower. The boat doesn’t start running until 2pm, and the kids were anxious to get to the pool, so rather than walk, we got on the tram.
After getting to the room, and changing into swimsuits, we were out the door! There are three pools on the property. We chose to go to the one closest to our room first. It’s the second biggest pool on the property and features three water slides! After a few hours there, we walked along the path to the second pool, stopping to watch the dolphins along the way. My girls, especially my youngest, loved watching the dolphins and wants to swim with them! We got to the bigger pool and hung out there for the rest of the day. We went back to our rooms to rest before heading out to dinner. The girls were exhausted and had fallen asleep. We got my seven year old up, but the little one slept through dinner!
We spent our second day at the pool. It was such an enjoyable and relaxing weekend for all of us. I only wish we could do it more often.
If you’re ever on the Big Island, I highly recommend the Hilton Waikoloa Village. There’s so much to do, you won’t want to leave!
