We bought my daughter a Rainbow Swing Set about three years ago. Between the sun, rain, and wind it has faded over time. We finally decided it was time to re-stain the playground so that it would not get any worse. It's a pretty pricey swing set and I want to get many more years of use out of it! We bought some Behr Semi-transparent Waterproofing Wood Stain from Home Depot to get the job done. If you plan on re-staining your swing set, be sure you have the time to dedicate to it. It took a few hours to paint the stain onto the whole swing set, so it was definitely time Keep reading...
Organizing Tip: Storing Kids Puzzle Pieces
My girls have so many toys, it's important to keep them organized or we'll end up with a disaster zone. I must admit, at times it sure does look like a tornado swept through the house, but I try my best to keep things as organized as possible. With a little one, that can be pretty hard. My girls enjoy doing puzzles and we've collected quite a few over the years. As you already know, the pieces are so small that they're always getting lost or end up all over her bedroom floor. Once a piece gets lost, there goes the puzzle! No one wants to do a puzzle they can't Keep reading...
Recycled Materials Dress Up Day: Newspaper Skirt & Top
It was Recycled Materials Dress Up Day today at my daughters Preschool. Her uncle made her a skirt and top out of newspaper. It turned out really cute! She was very excited to show off her costume at school. Everything was stapled together, and ribbon was used to keep the top from sliding down. I also added strips of a Target plastic bag at the bottomof her braid and tied it into a bow. Keep reading...
How to make Homemade Dog Shampoo
My dog Rasta was badly in need of a bath yesterday but we had run out of dog shampoo. I searched online for a homemade dog shampoo recipe and came across a few. Different kinds of dogs need different types of shampoos so that it doesn't affect or impair their other senses. For example, bed bug sniffing dogs need products that won't affect their ability to smell. Similarly, racetrack dogs need products that would enhance instead of impair their speed and dexterity. For Rasta, I didn't follow an exact recipe, but I used the ingredients that most of the recipes called for. For my recipe, all Keep reading...
Birthday Party Face Paint Idea
My daughter got here face painted at a Birthday Party we went to recently. I thought it was really cute, and wanted to share. It's a simple design, but so pretty and fun! I'm not very artistic, but I think I might actually be able to do this. I'll have to practice for my baby's 2nd birthday in September! Keep reading...
Under The Sea Mermaid Birthday Party
We celebrated my baby girls first birthday yesterday with an "under the sea" themed party. It was a whole lot of fun! I'm so proud of myself for making the sign and decorations. I'm not the craftiest, but when I put my mind to something, I can definitely get it done. I think it all came out pretty good, being it's the first time I made everything on my own. My goal was too make it nice and cute while sticking to a budget. I made the "Happy Birthday" sign using assorted colors of cardstock. After gluing the letters onto each piece, I joined each square together Keep reading...
Mermaid STARFISH Wand
You can't have a Mermaid Party without some Starfish Wands. I made some for my daughter's under the sea birthday party and was quite surprised with how simple they were to make. I had seen them on various sites online, but they either weren't for sale or they were really pricey. If I can make these wands, so can you! Trust me when I say I'm definitely not the craftiest one around. If I can do it, that means it really is simple. Don't go out and buy these wands, when you can save a bunch of money by making them on your own. I ordered some starfish from Deltona Seashells & Keep reading...
I did it! – Blog Button
I finally took some time to make my button for my blog! I've been procrastinating, but since the kids are asleep and I have some quiet time to myself, I figured i'd better try to do it. It was pretty simple thanks to the tutorials I found on mypregnancybaby.com and developing a heart for home. The post at mypregnancybaby.com helped with creating my button using picnik. Developing a heart for home helped with the code needed to post it on my site! Here it is!! YAY! I'd love if you grabbed my button :-) Keep reading...
