My family is always using some kind of technology. Whether it's the TV, computers, or iPads, everyone in this house is usually making use of some form of an electronic device. Technology can get in the way of spending quality time together as a family. Yes, you may be physically together, but everyone's doing their own thing. When we were growing up, life was so different. We didn't have all the technology that we have today. As kids, we grew up in a different lifestyle. I see many differences in the way kids are today compared to how we were when we were kids and I think a Keep reading...
My Sister’s Mermaid Themed Baby Shower
I loved the way my sister's baby shower turned out. Turquoise and purple were the perfect colors to give it a true mermaid feel. The decor was perfect. The tissue paper pom-pom balls, which were connected together and hung from a beam were my favorite part of the overall decor. They had artificial flowers (like the ones you get at Silk by Design) to keep the place cheery and they looked great for the occasion. For lunch, we had a "make your own" taco bar with fish, shrimp, flour tortilla's and tortilla bowls, spanish rice, and all the toppings. There was also a cheese platter, Keep reading...
Horseback Riding in Hawaii
My girls love horses and going riding is always something they look forward to. We really don't get to bring them as often as they'd like, so when they do go, they are extra excited! On this day, they chose to ride Ka'eo. Ka'eo belongs to my parents. He was born years ago, back when I was a little girl. He's over 20 years old, and still going! He works as a tour horse for my parents company, the Waipi'o Ridge Stables. They do trail rides that go along the rim of the Big Island's beautiful Waipi'o Valley. Keep reading...
The funny things kids say
Kids...they are so funny sometimes! Some of the things that come out of those little mouths, you'd never imagine. The funny thing is, half the time, they don't even realize they're being funny! I know there are many times my girls have said something that made me laugh out loud, here are just a few. What are some of the funny things your kids have said? Keep reading...
Stand Up Paddle Boarding and River Surfing!
Here's a few pics of my 6 year old daughter riding her surfboard in the river. It's not a real stand up paddle board, but she's still light enough to use it as one. She also practiced balancing as she road the board down river. Keep reading...
Summer Vacation – A month on the Island of Oahu
It had been over two years since we'd gone on a family vacation. A getaway was definitely long overdue. Work was slowing down for my husband and he got laid off at the end of May. It was the perfect time for a Summer vacation, which means that we needed to prepare and not just in terms of finding a destination or booking accommodation but also in terms of making our house ready to be empty for a while. After all, we did not want burglars to make merry in our dwelling while we were absent. So we inspected our house security systems-we had the alarm systems replaced, CCTV cameras repaired, Keep reading...
Mother’s Day
We celebrated Mother's Day on Saturday night with my mom, sister's and brother in-laws. We went to the Hakone Buffet at Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel. There was a nice selection of Japanese cuisine. My favorites were the Shrimp and Vegetable Tempura and the Tonkatsu. It's been a while since I got to dress up and go out to a nice restaurant, and it was great spending time with the family. I was also super happy that I got to shop for this great womens dress (after browsing through plenty, of course), perfect for a Mother's Day outing with the fam! We had a good time Keep reading...
It’s time to Get Fit & Be Healthy…Again!
Back in July 2012 my husband and I had decided to start a journey of being healthy. We got rid of all the unhealthy foods in our house and went shopping for healthy options. We spent time in the grocery store reading labels and were amazed by all the bad stuff they put in the foods we thought were "healthy". Along with eating healthy we also started the Insanity workout. It was intense, a definite challenge, but we pushed through! I had written a post after one month of our workouts showing our progress so far. It felt great that we were doing so well. I could feel my body Keep reading...
Pull Ups House Party
We all really enjoyed our Pull-Ups First Flush Party! There are a bunch of little ones all born within 2 months of each other. Being that they are all in the potty training stage, this party was perfect for all of them! We started off the party by handing out party hats and blowers, they were excited. Having all those two year olds in one room definitely got a little hectic and I knew they wouldn't last inside for long. I opened up a bag of pull-ups and had each of the girls choose between a minnie mouse pull-up and a princess one. Once they chose which one they wanted, they Keep reading...
Weekend Getaway – Hilton Waikoloa Village
It's been a while since we got to go on a family vacation, and we were definitely due for a little rest, relaxation, and family fun! A few weeks ago I decided to book our room and surprise my daughters with a weekend getaway. We spent one night at the Hilton Waikoloa Village which is one of our families favorite hotels. The Hilton Waikoloa Village is set on 62 oceanfront acres. There are boats and trams to get you to your room, the pools, and restaurants, or you can walk through the beautifully landscaped grounds and the walkways which are filled with Polynesian and Asian artwork. When Keep reading...
My niece’s Pink & Green Pool Party
My niece Kaimahie turned two just 3 days after my daughter. She celebrated her birthday with a pool party! Her party colors were pink and green, an adorable combination. I absolutely loved the dessert table. All of the desserts were color coordinated and tasted yummy! Tubes & Beach balls filled the pool for the kids to enjoy! Lunch included steak, lobster, sushi, pulled pork sliders on guava sweetbread, Korean Chicken and a small salad bar. Everything tasted SO GOOD! It Keep reading...
Strawberry 2nd Birthday Party
This past Saturday we celebrated my daughters 2nd birthday with an adorable Strawberry themed birthday party. This wasn't a Strawberry Shortcake Party as I don't normally do character parties, and my daughter has no idea who Strawberry Shortcake is. The Birthday Girl wore a cute strawberry appliquéd tank top from Makmaydesigns. The strawberries were made with a hot pink fabric with red polka dots. I added on a tutu skirt, and it became the perfect attire for a strawberry birthday party! She also loved her princess crown, and wore it proudly. As far as hosting her Keep reading...
